What book are you recommending right now?

I will always, always recommend The Goblin Emperor to fantasy readers as it's a masterclass on character-led, incredibly intricate fantasy worlds that don't rely on action sequences to take the plot forwards.

If your story beast had a form, what would it be?

I think because I'm an editor and an author it would need to combine the two, so I'm thinking a kind of biblically accurate owl, and with each book I edit or write it gains another wing and another eye. Each eye and wing is different, to reflect the different stories I work on, some are cute and fluffy and soft with sweet round eyes, others are skeletal or with dark feathers and eyes like fathomless pits.

If you could meet one story character, who would it be and why?

Probably Maia in the Goblin Emperor, he reminds me of myself when I was really grieving a loss of a parent in my teen years, and I'd just want to give him a hug.

Let's talk favorites! Tell us your...favourite book:

So, unsurprisingly, The Goblin Emperor for fantasy, for romance it's tricky but probably The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy which I'm lucky to be the editor for. Also Paladin's Strength by T Kingfisher.

...favourite author:

Can I say two? T Kingfisher and Robin Hobb.

...favourite trope:

Forced proximity (with age gap romance coming in close second).

...favourite snack right now:

It's strawberry season over here so I just eat them by the punnet load like some kind of berry goblin.
